Welcome and thank you for your interest in
Indy Homeless Connect, Friday, March 20, 2009!
Indy Homeless Connect is a one-day community event connecting the homeless community of Indianapolis to available resources and services, while raising awareness within the community on the issue of homelessness. With the help of volunteers like you, this event will offer a number of services to those experiencing homelessness, including medical care, food, legal advice, free phone calls to family, employment services, and housing. While some services at Indy Homeless Connect must be performed by professionals, there are a number of areas where we need volunteer support - and a great deal of it!
The deadline for volunteer registration is March 13, 2009.
Key volunteer information you should know:
1. SHIFTS: There are many different types of shifts to select from. Shifts are available in five and a half hour increments in both the morning and the afternoon. If you would like to volunteer all day, please select the morning and afternoon shift in the same area. Lunch will be provided for you on the day of the event.
ALL VOLUNTEERS FOR THE DAY OF THE EVENT MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
2. TRAINING: All community volunteers are required to attend volunteer training, which will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Indiana Convention Center in rooms 121-122, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend, alternate arrangements may be made. Please contact Emily Hervey at (317) 472-7640 or via email at email@example.com.
While attending the training session, volunteers will receive training specific for the event, a tour of the facility, a volunteer shirt, and other important information.
3. UNIFORM: Volunteers will receive a volunteer shirt that should be worn with black or khaki pants, or jeans. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
To volunteer, please click on the "Register Now!" link on the right side of this page to begin your online volunteer registration. You will first be asked to complete a personal profile to establish an online volunteer account. Next, you will be asked to agree to the terms of a release waiver. You will then see the available shifts and will have the opportunity to select your desired shifts. Please be sure to complete the entire process until you see a confirmation page. An email will be sent immediately to confirm your volunteer registration.
Thank you for participating in this day of caring and outreach. We look forward to seeing you!
